Project
Challenges
Establish the business case for an industrial scaled biogas project.
Establish the most suitable energy crop to produce biomass to produce biogas.
Goals & Objectives
The primary objective was to develop a profitable and productive use for 4,000 hectares of marginal land previously leased for mining purposes.
Through a biomass analysis it was established that cactus cultivation could yield 2 million tons of biomass annually.
This biomass is proposed to be processed into biogas using a lagoon anaerobic digester.
The biogas is then upgraded to remove H₂S and H₂O utilising ANG technology, and then compressed to 20 MPa, to be transported via pipeline to supply energy to a cardboard manufacturing facility.
