Challenges

  • White’s Bay Coal Fired Power Station features 5 x Boiler Generator Sets with a total capacity of 186MW and decommissioned in 1982. The Power Station ownership was transferred to the Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority, who were looking to convert the old coal fired boilers to be fired with Municipal Solid Waste to generate green electricity.

Goals & Objectives

  • Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority’s goal was to determine the practical and economic viability of looking to convert the old coal fired boilers to be fired with Municipal Solid Waste to generate green electricity.

  • Build the carbon emissions model of the existing boilers fired with Municipal Solid Waste to generate green electricity.

  • Identify, evaluate and build the business case for proposed grren power generation initiative.

  • Prepare a draft Carbon Mitigation Plan
